Tees and greens in the heart of the Gold Coast are open to non-members this spring at the private Cedarbrook Club.
The club, featuring an 18-hole course laid out amid fellow mid-century clubs and renowned stalwarts like Piping Rock and North Shore, kicked off a trial membership drive earlier this month, opening the facility to all players in an effort to inspire a revival for the Old Brookville venue.
"We are planning on making a comeback and want [new members] to help us embark on our adventure," the club says on its website.
Tee times for players and prospective members across Long Island and the rest of the metro area are available online through GolfNow. Rates are $79 to $99. The trial could last through the 2018 season, according to club staff.
Cedarbook's rolling par-72 course measures 6,658 yards from the back tees, with most holes framed by trees. The club aerated its greens earlier this spring, and according to club staff, the putting surfaces should be in pristine condition by the end of the month. A bunker-renovation project is also underway around the course.
Established in 1961, Cedarbrook was among the first clubs constructed during the post-war course-building boom on Long Island, and one of 12 built during the 1961 and 1962 seasons alone. It bills itself as a "friendly, casual club without the pretentious culture."
