Bethpage Black, Green and Yellow are now closed until October

The Bethpage-lite version of the 2025 Long Island golf season has arrived.

20250812_105838Bethpage Black is officially closed to the public until October so that Ryder Cup preparations can accelerate ahead of next month's tournament. The Green and Yellow courses are now closed as well. All that remain open are the Red and Blue, which will operate on a shortened schedule until they close for play on Sunday, September 7.

With 54 holes out of the Bethpage rotation for the next month and a half, the spillover of public golfers onto area courses should start immediately. Around Nassau County this Saturday, August 23, only late-afternoon rounds are available for twosomes and foursomes at Eisenhower Park, Middle Bay, Oyster Bay and Harbor Links.

Ryder Cup week begins Tuesday, September 23, with tournament play featured on Bethpage Black from Friday, September 26 to Sunday, September 28.

Once the American and European players settle this year's champion, the Bethpage courses will reopen for play, likely during the first week of October. The Black Course should play close to normal while the surrounding structures are dismantled and removed. However, unlike past years when the Black hosted major tournaments in mid- to late spring, the other four courses will likely be heavily altered until next season. Covered turf in areas like Red #1, Green #1/#18 and the Yellow back nine, among others, will be unrecoverable for several months.
