When the driving range at Bethpage State Park reopens to golfers later this spring, it will look nothing like it did before. Most importantly to many Bethpage golfers, it will sound nothing like before either.
Bethpage’s practice facility is currently undergoing a major reconstruction project focusing on the installation of modern Inrange hitting bays and higher nets around the entire perimeter of the range. Players will have access to covered stalls that feature advanced swing and ball-tracking technology. And with the more protective netting, for the first time at Bethpage, players will also have access to their drivers. The familiar metallic echo of drivers and fairway woods will debut around the range’s tentative reopening date of April 29, according to Kelley Brooke, whose Brooke Management Group operates the instructional programs at Bethpage.

Montauk Downs and Harbor Links, both under the Brooke Management umbrella, upgraded to Inrange tech during the 2025 season. InRange allows players to warm up with the use of real-time ball and swing data, including accurate shot tracking and advanced swing data and analysis. In addition to regular practice, players can simulate rounds on virtual courses, compete in challenges and skill games, and make use of social elements like group play and multi-bay competition.
As for the new netting, Bethpage players have been clamoring for use of their drivers for years. Due to space limitations, Bethpage’s range, which serves five courses and an increased flow of “bucket list” golfers eager to take on the driver-heavy Black Course, has been irons only. Potential solutions like relocating the hitting bays farther back in place of the parking lot have gone nowhere. Brooke has made improvements at the range a priority since taking over operations in 2017.
“These upgrades reflect the Brooke Management team’s commitment to offering a modern, high‑quality practice environment that matches the reputation of Bethpage’s world‑class courses,” Brooke says.
The Inrange bays also feature lounge-style seating and all-weather protective covering. For a preview of what’s to come at Bethpage, area players can check out the range at Harbor Links, which opened for play earlier this month.
