Bethpage is now closed through the Ryder Cup; reopen dates to be determined

Public golf at Bethpage State Park is officially on hiatus until the Americans and Europeans settle the 45th edition of the Ryder Cup later this month.

The abbreviated summer season came to a wet, rainy conclusion this weekend, clearing the park for all the prep work that still remains ahead of tournament week, September 23 to 28. Official reopening dates for the Black Course and its four sister courses will be posted later this month. Initially, Bethpage listed October 3 as a reopening date for all courses, though that will likely be pushed back.

With the Ryder Cup arriving much later in the playing season than Bethpage’s past U.S. Opens and the 2019 PGA Championship (played in May), the four non-Black courses will be heavily modified for the remainder of the year. Red #1, Green #1 and #18, and large segments of the Yellow Course have been covered by structures and transportation areas for much of the summer.

Check back here or on the Bethpage website for updated information through September.
