Golfing Magazine recently announced its 2010 Long Island Dream Golf Club, this season's collection of the Island's finest 18 holes and top off-course facilities. The club's six public golf holes can all be found on the front nine of this 6,636-yard par-71.
Every Monday through the winter, Golf On Long Island will feature one public hole from the Dream Golf Club along with commentary from Golfing Magazine editors. Photographs and additional commentary are provided by Golf On Long Island where available. To view the 2010 Dream Club's 18-hole lineup, re-visit the original post here.

HAMLET WIND WATCH GOLF & CC — HOLE #1
491 / 480 / 468 yards
Designed by Joe Lee
"This newly designed par-5 presents an immediate challenge to golfers of all levels. Previously played as a par-4, the club installed new tees, adding 40 yards to an already daunting opening hole. Played from the tips, the elevated tee area provides a gorgeous view to the north. On the fairway, there are now three large bunkers in the new landing areas that will swallow any wayward drives. A small, elevated green awaits, so unless you have an iron or hybrid into the green, you may want to lay up to your best wedge."
Golf On Long Island first covered the course in August 2009 and then sampled the new opener in July 2010:
"The first trap in a series of new and redesigned bunkers turned out to be a popular gathering spot for players who kept their opening drives to the right side. From the fairway or rough, players can lay up short of the green and still have a strong par opportunity. A conservative play to the far left side of the fairway will even keep the door open for birdie. A large bunker guards the right side of the opener's diagonal green."
