On Monday, August 13, thousands of golf balls will soar into the air simultaneously as part of the "World's Largest Golf Outing," an event run by Billy Casper Golf that Long Islanders can participate in provided they have a ride to Coram.
Pine Ridge Golf Club is the site for the local leg of the outing, which includes more than 100 courses nationwide to raise money for the Wounded Warrior Project. Billy Casper Golf "hosts" the event across 27 states to give golfers of all abilities the opportunity to benefit a patriotic cause, compete for a spot in the Guinness Book of World Records and simply enjoy a day on the course as part of a unique multi-state gathering. Tee time is 1 p.m. and format is four-person scramble. Entry fee is $59 ($39 for Pine Ridge members) and includes cart, practice balls, lunch and a gift bag. Groups/teams are also encouraged to raise $500, if possible (not required), in additional sponsorship donations.
Players and contributors can register online, sponsor a team or donate directly to the Wounded Warrior Project by visiting the World's Largest Golf Outing website.
