County-operated municipal golf courses have shut down until further notice to comply with Governor Andrew Cuomo's order to close all non-essential businesses, which went into effect last night.
Nassau munis at Eisenhower Park, North Woodmere, Cantiague, Christopher Morley and Bay Park are all closed, effective today, according to a phone message on the Eisenhower golf line. County Executive Laura Curran had announced that parks and golf courses would remain open with restrictions prior to the state shutdown.
In Suffolk, a phone message at West Sayville announced that the course is closed until further notice. Calls to Bergen Point and Indian Island went unanswered this morning. Timber Point has already delayed its opening date until April 1, conditions permitting.
Despite notice that it would stay open with social-distancing measures in place, Peninsula Golf Course in Massapequa has also closed. Same goes for Stonebridge, Willow Creek and the two courses at Cherry Creek.
