New York State municipal golf courses — Bethpage, Montauk Downs and Sunken Meadow — will in fact remain open for play, starting again tomorrow, with heightened social-distancing restrictions in place.
To increase safety, the parks will stretch the interval between tee times, eliminate bunker rakes and ball washers, and limit use of golf carts. Each course will likely implement their own safety measures as well.
As noted in previous posts, walk-up tee times will not be permitted. All golfers must have a reservation.
"Please be mindful we are all working under extreme circumstances and we are all under a lot of pressure to provide a recreational activity for our customers in our community during this time, and during a time where the rules and updates are changing by the hour," said Sunken Meadow head pro Judy Alvarez in a Monday morning Facebook post.
