Coronavirus Uppost_date: Nassau County munis open, Harbor Links reopening delayed

It's business as usual at many golf courses on Long Island despite the widespread closings, cancellations and postponements at area businesses, school districts and events related to this month's coronavirus outbreak.  As "social distancing" works its way into the American lexicon, golf courses — outdoors and inherently "distancing" — might be among the safest spots to spend time outside the home.

Here's the latest from local public courses:

  • Nassau County Executive Laura Curran announced that County-owned parks and municipal golf courses will remain open for use despite the county's active state of emergency.  That covers Eisenhower Park's Red, Blue and White courses, and the nine-hole courses at Bay Park, Cantiague, Christopher Morley and North Woodmere.
  • Harbor Links in Port Washington announced this morning that it will be closed at least through March 30.  The Championship and Executive courses were scheduled to reopen for the season this Saturday, March 21.
  • Mill Pond has canceled its St. Patrick's Day scramble.  The course and driving range will remain open for regular play.
