Golf On Long Island and Newsday have teamed up to offer readers a glimpse of Long Island's long-lost golf courses.
A photo-history slideshow that highlights 11 Long Island locations that were once home to golf courses is live on Newsday.com. The slideshow features vintage photos and brief historical descriptions contributed by Golf On Long Island's Phil Carlucci, with present-day photos provided by Newsday.
Featured in the slideshow are well-known golf courses of Long Island's past, including the original Lido and Meadow Brook clubs, as well as obscure and short-lived courses like the Valley Stream Country Club and Reydon Golf Club in Southold.
