Rumors of a reopening of the former Great Rock Golf Club under new ownership have proven true. The "new" Wading River golf course — which does not yet have a name — will open again for play on Monday, June 2, according to the Riverhead News-Review.

Great Rock abruptly closed for business during the winter, though word began to circulate that the course would be brought back under new owners. Most of Great Rock's staff will return, including general manager Brian Curtin and course superintendent Dan Wolf. The course will remain open to the public.
The on-site restaurant formerly known as Blackwells will be renovated and is slated to reopen under a new name in August.
Wolf told the News-Review that course conditions should be favorable this season despite the hiatus, thanks in part to the long winter, which delayed new spring growth. Short-term changes include lighter rough, with more considerable long-term modifications to the course in the works.
"The plans for our future are beyond exciting," Curtin told Golf On Long Island. "When we're done with our plan, it's going to be awesome."
