Timber Point’s Blue Course opens April 7

Timber Point's Blue Course — home of the "Harbor" and "Gibraltar" par-3s — will open for the 2012 season on Saturday, April 7.  It will be available only for weekend play until further notice.

IMG_1004The bayside Blue Course closed earlier than normal in 2011 after it was smacked hard by Hurricane Irene in late August.  Parts of the course were flooded with saltwater and covered with debris, and its irrigation system was exposed to the elements.  Despite the damage, the course reopened briefly after storm cleanup and will be ready for its usual April start date.  Golf director Andy Carracino said some areas might be roped off early in the season to assist in turf repair.

Blue's Easter weekend reopening also coincides with a golfer's version of a holiday egg hunt.  From Friday, April 6 through Easter Sunday, April 8, special Timber Point golf balls will be hidden around the course and redeemable for (non-candy) treats, including lessons, merchandise, discounts and more.
