Timber Point Red and White set to reopen tomorrow, March 9

The 2012 season is about to begin at the Timber Point Golf Course in Great River.  Suffolk County's historic muni will raise the curtain on 18 of its 27 bayside holes tomorrow, March 9, with the opening of its Red and White courses.  The scenic Blue Course will open next month.

New Timber Point LogoTimber Point director of golf Andy Carracino said the coastal Blue Course, which sustained considerable damage to its turf and irrigation system last August during Hurricane Irene, should be ready for its usual early-April reopening.  Some areas might be roped off for turf repair at the start of the season.

Once an ultra-exclusive private club, Timber Point today is a Suffolk County-operated facility sporting some of the finest waterside scenery of any Long Island golf course — public or private.  For more on Timber Point and its rich history, check out the flyovers for its Blue, Red and White courses.
