Voting is open in Golf Digest's Greatest Public Courses first-round matchup between Bethpage Black and the Hawktree Golf Club of Bismarck, North Dakota. Head over to GolfDigest.com anytime between now and Sunday, May 29, to cast your vote for the local favorite.
The magazine is allowing fans to choose which course is truly America's Greatest by putting the top 64 publics (as determined in the Digest's previously released 2011-12 list) in an NCAA Tournament-style bracket, with all matchups settled by fan vote. As the #7 course in the Golf Digest public-course rankings, Bethpage Black earned a #2 seed in the "tournament" and a first-round meeting with #15 Hawktree.
Early indications are that, like North Carolina sprinting the floor against Radford, the Black Course is off to a blazing start. But be sure to cast a vote anyway and send the Black to a second-round bout with the winner of #7 Osprey Meadows (Idaho) vs. #10 The Harvester (Iowa).
