It seems the Long Island National Golf Club is starting to loosen up a bit. Don't believe it? Sling your clubs over the shoulder of your Lady Gaga getup on Halloween and see for yourself.
The Riverhead course — home to one of the priciest public rounds of golf on the Island — is making itself a little more accessible to area players through discounts for students and trick-or-treaters. Show up to Long Island National in costume on Halloween and receive $20 off your holiday round. Just bring a copy of the advertisement available on the course website. (And, considering the course's notoriously strong winds, adjust your costume accordingly.)
If you're a student, get a $10 discount through December 31 when you present a valid school ID (with ad).
Long Island National is a 6,838-yard par-71 with rolling fairways and plenty of accolades. The Robert Trent Jones Jr. design in Riverhead has a four-star rating from Golf Digest and was ranked fifth among Long Island publics by Newsday in 2008. The par-4 12th was selected by Golfing Magazine as part of its 2008 Long Island Dream Club.
