Golfing Magazine’s 2009 Dream Golf Club

The golf seasons at Bay Park and Christopher Morley Park slowly fade to black this week, as the two Nassau County municipal courses prepare to shut down until March 2010.  The last day to play is Sunday, December 20.

IMG_0818 Both
nine-hole par-30s are very short and ideal
destinations for the beginner.  Sitting on a peninsula that juts into
Hewlett Bay, East Rockaway's Bay Park is wide open and exposed to strong Atlantic
breezes.  It is flat, easy to walk and non-threatening.  Newcomers to
the game can swing away with abandon while experienced players
tune their irons and putters.  Only two holes stretch longer than 300 yards.

Christopher
Morley
is shorter and tighter, with tall oaks framing the
fairways and greens.  The three longest holes measure 227, 267 and 300
yards.  The Roslyn layout is a fun practice course with a cozy feel.
