Golf Etc. at The Arches — Tanger Outlets, Deer Park

A local golf tournament is an odd thing to discuss just a few hours after digging out from underneath a foot of snow deposited by an early-March nor'easter.  But in two weeks, with a little cooperation from the weather, area golfers might finally be able to put the snow shovels away for the season and dust off the clubs for a St. Patrick's Day scramble.

The Crab Meadow Golf Club will host the Leprechaun Golf Classic on Tuesday, March 17, a four-person scramble that is open to all.  Players can warm up on the range and enjoy a continental breakfast at 11:00 before the shotgun start at noon, then wind down after the tournament with beers and a spread of corned beef and cabbage.  Prizes will be given out to winners in long-drive and closest-to-the-pin contests.

Entry fee for the Leprechaun Golf Classic is $60 per person and includes cart, prizes, unlimited range balls, breakfast and lunch.  Singles and pairs are welcome to join and will be placed on four-person teams.

Call Crab Meadow at (631) 757-8800 for details and registration.

The Long Island Press selected Crab Meadow as one of the top three public golf courses on the Island in its recent "Best Of Long Island" poll.  The eighth hole, a short par-5 with a lake guarding the green, is part of Newsday's Dream 18.
